Show Notes
Dennis is joined via Zoom by actor Tony Rodriguez who voices the character of Marge’s Cuban-American hairdresser Julio on the iconic animated series The Simpsons. He tells the amazing story of how he got the role; by posting an unsolicited audition video on line on a lark. The producers saw it and within a week, Tony was on the Fox lot recording his first appearance. Tony also talks about how he first fell in love with performing, how improv helps him in his day-to-day life and how the landscape has changed recently in terms of gay and Latinx representation. Other topics include: what would happen in his dream episode of The Simpsons, playing husband to Jim Rash in the recent Comedy Central movie Out of Office, appearing the in the crosswalk musicals with James Corden on The Late Late Show, the glory days of glossy magazines and making Julio magnets at CVS.
